Foreman - Paving & Fine Grading Career Opportunity
FOREMAN – PAVING & FINE GRADING - 5 YEARS Experience REQUIRED!
KCM Grading & Paving, Inc. is seeking motivated and talented PAVING FOREMAN. The ideal candidates must be skilled in the areas listed below, as well as being honest, confident, and enthusiastic. This job is full-time, M-F with occasional weekends required.
DUTIES – RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and supervise daily operations of one of Crews including the safety, quality, and personnel management aspects.
- Schedule work for fine grading and paving crews with direction from our Executive Team.
- Applicant should possess excellent communication, leadership and management skills.
- Must be able to occasional work weekends.
- Ability to manage field operations.
- Ability to coordinate with other company trades and willingness to perform various trades as necessary.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English Desired but not required.
- Must be able to walk through construction sites and lift 50 pounds from the ground.
- Support of safety & health programs, including daily tailgate meetings, accident investigations, and development and implementation of corrective action plans.
- Enforcement of all safety & environmental policies, and all applicable OSHA rules and regulations.
- Provide guidance and development of hourly personnel to meet performance requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Paving Foreman position requires the ability to operate the following construction equipment; Skip Loader, Skid-steer, Backhoe, Vibratory Compactor, Compressor with Jackhammer, Jumping Jack & Plate Tamp, Lasers and GPS systems.
- Experience with pouring, smoothing and setting asphalt on roads, pathways and parking lots.
- Assist with raking and lining out the pavement areas.
- Experience removing, replacement, overlays, and patching paving.
- Experience with various commercial, government, roadways, residential and maintenance projects.
- Ability to fine grade project big to small and prepare it for paving.
- Be able to read and understand plans and specs.
- Be able to quantify asphalt and other materials required for paving.
- Be able to quantify trucking loads required for paving.
- Must have supervisory skills handling crews ranging from 6-10 people.
- Must maintain high quality workmanship.
- Must be capable and proficient interacting with asphalt plants—ability to achieve accurate AC cut-offs.
- Must be capable and proficient in interacting with trucking subcontractors and other miscellaneous subs.
- Walk/Stand for long periods of time.
- Perform strenuous physical labor in outdoor elements.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Foreman.
- Clean driving record and valid Driver’s license (REQUIRED)
- Class A Driver’s License is desired but NOT required.
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $38.00 - $50.00+ per hour Depending on Experience.

LABORER – PAVING CREW
KCM Grading & Paving, Inc. is seeking motivated and talented LABORERS. The ideal candidates must be skilled in the areas listed below, as well as being honest, confident, and enthusiastic. This job is full-time, M-F with occasional weekends required.
DUTIES
- Experience with Paving processes & equipment (paver, roller, asphalt raking, etc.)
- Maintain acceptable, clean California Class C and/or Class A driver’s license (Class A license is a plus, but not required)
- Display safety consciousness, a strong work ethic, exceptional attitude & attendance traits.
- Demonstrate team skills on an ongoing basis.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English Desired but not required.
- Must be able to follow directions and guidance from fellow Paving Crew members with a positive attitude.
